I’m a native Texan and I love Mexican food, but I don’t always have the time to make a huge spread. However, I have a secret ingredient that I buy at the store that makes my life so easy and only requires a couple of additional ingredients.
What is this secret (shortcut) ingredient you ask? The Frontera Gourmet Mexican Cooking Sauces! For $1.98 at HEB I can get a packet of this deliciousness, combine with meat, onions, whatever it calls for and dinner is DONE. I was able to snag one of these packets at HEB a few months ago as they were having a BOGO deal. They don’t carry a lot of flavors, but they’re available to order online. It’s always a good idea to have these packets sitting in your pantry for those nights when you don’t know what to cook – or you need to make something in a hurry. If you’re not a great cook – this stuff will fool your family or guests.
This week I used the Ground Beef Taco Skillet Sauce. I didn’t have two pounds of ground beef, but I improvised by using one pound of ground beef to one pound sliced mushrooms that I had on hand. I just put the beef mixture in a crispy taco shell, topped with shredded cheese and avocado. Delicious!
